Yes, very interesting dichotomy. Should senior refuse to help and support the junior guy instead? What is the best way to encourage devs? Eg, on stackoverflow showing the research is the way to asking a good question. Should something like this be everyday practice, optimizing everyone's personal development?

I also have one theory about this, from psychology. Some people may have nice logical skills but lacking in skills to find opportunities, solutions. That is, they are very good at following rules, but it's harder for them to come up with innovations. Logically-gifted find their way into software development, but their success there depends on whether they just "code" some detailed description into the programming language or really see the multitude of solutions (for every task). I have a hunch that innovativeness does not depend on ones seniority. However, I do not quite know if these qualities are more like height for basketball players - innate and how much they can really be developed.
