Yes, makes sense. As for "good enough as long as it works" - the devil is exactly in as long as it works. One day too powerful appliance can be bought and the house wired by an amateur burn down.

Personally I prefer solid design, which leaves options open. Spaghetti code is not from that category and while "it works" it's no quality software - and business is "ok" as long as there is an understanding, that underlying software does not really capture the knowledge and in case it will need to be rewritten, it will require a lot of efforts.

Software quality has agreed upon standards ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_quality ). And it is good at least to understand.
