While " they leave themselves open to attack" may well be true, talking about Finland attacking Russia is utter non-sense. Almost all Finns left Karelia before its annexation by Soviets during WWII. And ethnically Finnish mostly left former Soviet Union in 1990s-2000s for Finland.
