My apologies, I've misunderstood the article on first read. However, software engineering do have body of knowledge. SO is more about helping with concrete problems than any BoK can contain. There is also software engineering stack exchange, where more abstract problems can be discussed.

So do you suggest not to share the knowledge? I have not understood the main point of blaming SO. One can easily become an excellent programmer without debugging every problem in third-party libraries for himself. As for not having answers for harder questions - yes, it is sometimes true, but even formulating a question can help one to find the answer. Stack Overflow is a tool as any other.
