Not quite sure whether the article is about best editor (or IDE) for beginners, but for me most value in the IDE is, that it understands the language syntax to the degree it can perform even quite involved refactorings (and merges with conflicts) automatically, navigate the code in a meaningful way, highlight problems. Observing my colleagues usage of VSCode I came to conclusion, that JetBrains IDEs are the best at the moment for productivity.

So holywars are far from being over. And you have not mentioned Emacs.
