Math can be everything. It's power lies in the ability to design whatever constructions needed. In this sense the result is not surprising.

What is more interesting though is whether there is even simpler explanation of the elementary particles than what physicists deal with at the moment? Can it be that current theories, mathematized, are like Roman numerals to the Arabic numerals we use now? Both represent math alright.
