LLMs are just massive typeahead functionalities and associative memory. Developers will not be needed is equivalent to claiming no new software will need to be written: it all has been already written. One can imagine massive DRY effort (do not repeat yourself) to remove all duplication from all software. This can be achievable with LLMs.

However, LLMs mode of operation is not software reuse. It's producing repetitive code all over again. This is ultimate waste. It's not very different from copy-paste programming. And bright entrepreneurs will understand that soon. And then the real paradigm shift will come, which has been a dream for decades, not just 2 past years of LLM hype. The industry will learn to reuse at last. Might be, will connect all code to mathematically verified one at the same time. Exodus of "copy-paste" level developers may come, but that will hardly be unwelcome. Those people will find something less boring as they have not learned to enliven their job now.
