In his book "Deep Time Reckoning: How Future Thinking Can Help Earth Now" Vincent Ialenti raises the very same concern, which he experienced after visiting Finland and made anthropological research on the nuclear waste burial project. Because, according to Ialenti, in Finland people are still more or less trusting experts and scientists...

And what is more worrying, is that science is the mean to get humanity out of climate catastrophe, and other smaller problems.

Humanity must find the way to let science lead, not the social media guys who gather more followers. And I guess politicians could be more responsible for what they say to their followers.
