I appreciate that opinion, particularly as it's illustrated with examples from specific fields of study that are connected to applied mathematics in the industry.

Although I've primarily worked in software development after receiving my degree in mathematics (computer science was a substantial part of the curriculum back then), I believe it's crucial to have a deep understanding of the mathematical way of thinking in order to solve problems effectively. Studying any branch of mathematics deeply provides this. It's not only about developing problem-solving thinking, but also about correctly comprehending new results in the field, which can offer a competitive edge. In some situations, it's not merely that people without mathematical skills perform tasks more slowly - it's that they're incapable of performing them at all.

Mathematics is like a... programming language, special one, maybe, hard to master, and it's syntactically fragmented.
