I am not saying autodidacts are somehow worse than those from coding bootcamps or with BSc/MSc in CS. All of them surely need to learn more to participate in "the show": That is exactly what the author tries to tell.
It also coincides that some really good programmers are not good communicators when they start their careers. It's probably quite rare combination in humans, and needs years of learning.
It's nice to hire "nice guy", but will that guy be able produce "nice work" or any work at all?
