Been there, tried to believe that for many years. You have expressed the idea of reductionism and physicalism. Unfortunately for those ideas, they do not stand fact-checking by many individuals. Our world is not that simple. And the author of the article tries to express exactly that.

You are trying to say, that our existence has no meaning. It is just a random occurrence. And our world (for you it's not a creation of God if I understood you correctly) is just a random occurrence as well. Unfortunately, science as framed currently is not a suitable tool to get there. And I believe the current frame will not even let it understand unless a major paradigm shift happens as I described. Until that reductionism and physicalism (peppered with emergentism for more credibility) should not be assumed by honest researchers.
